THE POWER OF PROTEIN!
Power of Protein
Why we need it
Decreases hunger (much like weight loss medication) Hormone production, Muscle recovery from exercise, Blood sugar regulation, Supports pregnancy, Healthy aging-maintaining muscle mass and balance, Wound/surgery healing. ENERGY MOOD FOCUS
KEEP IT REAL.
Protein drinks and many bars are highly processed food products with little nutrient value, often with artificial sweeteners- Acesulfame potassium (Sunset, Sweet One, Advantame, Aspartame (NutraSweet, Equal, Sugar Twin) surculose (Splenda).
OK in a pinch, not recommended as a daily source. Switch out liquid protein drinks and bars with Protein Powder- Organ (pea protein) , Whey Protein, add a scoop of Fruit and Vegetable powder for a complete meal and added flavor. Supplement with a hand full of berries, carrots/ celery, radish, etc. something to CHEW to turn on saliva and support digestion.
DAILY GOAL
I am not a fan of super high protein intake, unless one is doing high intensity work out or exercise. The average person should aim for 75-100gm per day, or 25-30mg per meal from WHOLE FOODS.
